    Description

Unique Bicentennial Station cancellation of the 1989 stamp recognizing North Carolina's official statehood in 1789.  North Carolina was recognized as the 12th state to join the Union, so it was the 12th state honored in this series of stamps.
Interestingly, while North Carolina was next to last in voting for union (12th out of 13 colonies), it was the first colony to officially call for independence from England in 1776.
This is an excellent collectible for stamp collectors, stamped cover collectors, or anyone interested in North Carolina history.
