    Description

David Bowie 1969 London, England "Space Oddity" Concert Handbill.
This is a handbill for a show that created a critical juncture in the former David Jones' career. Held at the Purcell Room in London with support acts, this "evening with David Bowie" was extremely significant. But not for the reasons of performance. Since it was vastly underpromoted, Bowie decided to make a management change.
The story goes that the show barely received any significant promotion. With his "Space Oddity" single making the rounds, Bowie decided to fire Kenneth Pitt, his manager, friend, and landlord. Tony Defries took over. Defries would have a major hand in making the David Bowie we all know, as well as working with Iggy Pop, Mick Ronson, and Mott the Hoople.
Measures 10" x 7 1/2" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. Bumped, creased and slightly torn lower right corner, and a very light two-inch diagonal crease in that area as well. Light vertical surface crease in the upper left from the flyer's edge down to "You." Light overall toning.
    COA from Heritage Auctions.
This is a must for any serious Bowie
    collector.
